Tips if you are involved in an Auto Accident.
Car accidents can be very stressful. Read the tips below to learn what you should do if you're involved in a car accident.

1. Stay calm. Keeping a normal demeanor helps you stay in control of the situation.

2. Make sure you and your passengers are OK.
3. Move as far off the roadway as possible, but stay at the scene of the accident. Warn oncoming traffic by activating your hazard warning lights and/or setting flares.

4. Call the police.
5. Contact your insurance company and report the claim.  The sooner your insurance company knows about the accident, the sooner they can start working to resolve your claim.

6. Do not admit fault.  Do not discuss the car accident with anyone other than the police and your claims representative.

7. Exchange vital information with the other driver involved in the car accident.  Write down the name, address, phone number and license numbers for all drivers and witnesses, particularly those who were not riding in a vehicle involved in the accident. Ask for the insurance companies and policy numbers for drivers involved in the car accident.

Tips if you have a Property (Home, Condo, Renters) Claim
1. Report the damage in order to start the process.  Look for potential safety risks. Take reasonable steps to correct them. Take reasonable steps to prevent further damage. If the loss is caused by theft, notify the police. If the loss involves a credit card or bank fund transfer card, notify the credit card company or bank immediately. Keep an accurate record of your repair expenditures. Separate items that may be cleaned and/or repaired. Check with your claim representative before you discard any items you plan to claim as damaged. Review your policy for specific coverage information. Some repairs may not be covered unless you purchased a specific endorsement.
2. After an injury - Promptly report it to your insurance carrier, Obtain names and addresses of any witnesses, If possible, don't voluntarily make payments, assume obligations or incur expenses, except for emergency first aid at the time of the bodily injury. Once we have received notice of your claim, a claim representative will contact you as soon as possible.
3. Make an inventory of Damage . This inventory should be room-by-room, giving complete descriptions of the damaged property.

4 .Personal Property Form - Following a personal property loss, you will need to provide an inventory of the lost, stolen or damaged items to your Claim Representative. You can provide the information your Claim Representative needs to settle your Claim by filling out a Personal Property form.
5. This form can be filled out online or you may print it and complete it by hand. After you complete the form you will need to print it and mail it or fax it to your Claim Representative. Please keep a copy of the completed form for your records.

6. If your home is uninhabitable - Find temporary housing for your family (there is no coverage under the flood policy for this expense). If possible, do not enter into any long-term leases until you talk to a State Farm claim representative. Keep all receipts associated with the temporary housing, meals, and other miscellaneous expenses. Payment for expenses that are beyond your normal living expenses may be available.
7. Claims against you - Should any party allege that you or any insured under your policy is responsible for bodily injury or property damage, State Farm will conduct an investigation to assess those allegations. Subject to the terms and conditions of your policy, State Farm Insurance will adjust those claims in which you may be legally liable.
